Soda ash or Sal’s soda is a caustic acid used as a cleanser or cleaner in the winemaking process. It removes stains from glass jars, carboys, bottles, barrels, hoses, etc. It is a very slippery and corrosive substance which needs to be neutralized with citric acid after use.
